'I couldn't see past my depression before running' | Running Stories

Running Stories is a series that relates to the interest in fitness and rejuvenation that January brings.
These are stories of how running has changed people's lives.

After experiencing many "very negative relationships," Jerry turned to drugs and alcohol before getting help from a therapist who suggested he start running.
He is now 27 years old and has completed five half marathons. But there was a time when he "didn't think there was a way out" of his depression and severe social anxiety. Jerry "felt like he was dying" when he started, but now he has control over his life, and aspires to become a personal trainer to help people in a situation similar to his.
