If a thought says "I'm worthless" or "I'm a failure," challenge that assumption. Ask yourself "Can I think of some reason, evidence or example of why the opposite might be true?" Do not try to convince yourself that you are great. Try to ask questions that allow you to discover that your original negative assumptions about you and your life may not be true or valid.

No one likes me, my dog is going away and I have bad fights with my mom every night and she says she will kill herself. Every day I feel useless, hated, and sad. I feel extremely violent and like there is something wrong with me. Every day I feel like killing myself and one girl in my class knows I have depression and told me I deserve it.     11. I'm depressed cause ive been tooken into cfs,including my sisters n brothers are also in cfs. My brothers been tooken into a ghetto place where they put teenagers in care, and my little sister went to a ghetto reserve. My big sister is having a baby n we all dont get to see are dads somewhere else where i cant see him. And my baby brother is somewhere where i dont know.     19. We all have good days and bad. Try to put things into perspective. it's not your fault you are dating a loser. It's not your fault for situations and others that bring junk into our lives.

    20. I found that depression is an overlay of sadness. I know I was predisposed to it as a child. From feeling sulky and withdrawn for a while. As a child I shrugged it off and carried on playing! As an adult sadness overlays itself into frustration and despair to the point of darkness with heavyweight weary fatigue. Bad stuff seems to outweigh the good stuff.It's overlayed so much that I feel grossly inadequate and insecure. I tip over a lot in a helpless mess. A bit different from going into a sulk now & again and shrugging it off!

First off its not just a feeling or being sad. Secondly, for those of us that are actually medically diagnosed and are medicated this is insulting. I understand you are trying to help, but you might want to do some scientific research and consult with mental health providers. What is the main cause of depression?Depression is more than just feeling “down.” It is a serious illness caused by changes in brain chemistry. Research tells us that other factors contribute to the onset of depression, including genetics, changes in hormone levels, certain medical conditions, stress, grief or difficult life circumstances.
